Literally the day after my last wedding of 2017, Ryan and I started our 2.5 week roadtrip through the Pacific Northwest! We drove across the Canadian Rockies (with a pitstop at Sun Peaks!) for the very first time to our favorite city…Vancouver! Not more than 24 hours later we were headed South!
Our first Washington stop was Seattle, filled with all things touristy, but mostly just lots of amazing food…and coffee. We took our time driving South along the coast. We explored rain forests and deserted beaches in Olympic National Park, climbed inside giant trees, ate fish + chips in the cutest fishing villages, and slept in the most welcoming B+B’s down the coast into Oregon.
Heading east, we crossed the Cascades into the high desert and made Bend our home for a few days. Our birthdays were both spent relaxing in hot springs, which I wouldn’t mind doing every December! We skied Mount Bachelor, squeezed ourselves through lava tube caves, hiked from one breathtaking waterfall to another, and seriously questioned why we live so far North.
After a quick stop in Portland, we continued East through Montana. We spent a day at Big White, well aware that it would be our last day of skiing for almost 2 months (ahhhh!), then continued the long, flat drive back to Manitoba for Christmas!
